We are magicians casting spells into the universe

Words are, in my humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.

-Albus Dumbledore

Recently I heard a saying …that the words we speak are like casting spells into the universe. Does it sound a little it crazy? Yes .. I admit it sounds a little bit like we are in a Harry Potter movie. But then I thought maybe we are underestimating the power of words themselves. Words do hold great power. Even God spoke the world into existence and rested on the seventh day. In the Indo – European tradition, words were always said to have magical abilities, or possessing a dangerous magic. For example, the daughter languages of Proto Indo – European arrange the consonants in root of the animal Wolf in bizarre ways. They are said to spell it out like this because they feared if they actually said the word wolf it would appear.

And for us mere mortal humans words can make our hearts beat faster, they can make us fall in love, they can make us angry, they can make us feel humiliated, they can humble us, they can uplift us, words can also hurt us deeply like a dagger in the heart. Consider the power of one word alone. A single magical word can not only change something´s meaning. It can convince someone to have a more open mind to other possibilities.

We have some big issues with bullying in schools as well as online. The reasons for bullying are usually about race, body shaming and appearance or looks in general. In this situation the bully uses words to cause harm. The bully is causing harm to those around them because more than likely those same words were used to cause harm on them. The problem is that they are hurting and actively choosing to hurt others.

We have hate speech issues. Which consists of issues that are directed at something that is key to that persons identity. Like race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. I can´t wrap my mind around why there are still people in this world thinking in this hateful way, but it´s not my business, so we are going to keep moving forward like they don´t exist and we will not give them any energy.

Moving forward, the words we speak to ourselves are possibly more powerful. When speaking to ourselves we should take note of how often we tell ourselves negative things. Have you ever been walking and then tripped over air itself? I have, and after I tripped over air I would find myself saying to myself “you are so clumsy ” Or sometimes if I cannot find the solution to a situation I tell myself how stupid I am for not being able to figure it out. Some tend to be harder on themselves then they are of others. It is sad really because I do not think we would ever talk to another human being like this, yet we talk to ourselves this way. If we are constantly uttering self depreciating things in our internal dialogue, we are allowing the power of words to work against us. Negative self talk can cause us to manifest the exact things we are trying to avoid. Words have power, their meaning crystalizes perceptions that shape our beliefs, drives our behavior and ultimately help to shape our world. I know the struggle is real with this negative self talk, but once we know better we have to begin to do better. Even if just starts with being aware of it and catching yourself saying something negative about yourself and replacing it with a positive.

The words we speak are actually commands that are stirring things into motion. Their power arises from our emotional responses when we read, speak, or hear them. For example try saying the word FIRE the next time you are at a BBQ, or at work, or in the movie theater. You will get a veriety of different responses. Or just finish this sentence:

What if…

Boom…you have endless places , with endless possibilities that these words can take you. Do you feel the spark of your imagination and how it lit up with those words?

Words are sacred. They deserve respect. If you get the right words in the right order you can nudge the universe a little.

-Tom Stoppard

Nobel prize winning physicist Werner Heidenburg once stated ¨ Atoms or elementaty particals themselves are not real, They form a world of potentialities or possibilities, rather than one of the things or facts.¨ This energy vibrates at an infinite number of subtle frequencies that cause it to appear as all the different creations we see in this world. And so, it seems life is more of a energy flow than a collection of solid things. This means for us that if we stay concious of the energy we contain, based on the emotions that we feel, we can make deliberate choices that alter our frequency and create the realities that we desire.

Words are said to be the most powerful force available to humanity. As with anything in our lives we have a choice. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair or hate. The never ending choice between good and evil . Words have the power and energy with the ability to help, hurt, hinder, harm, humiliate, heal, and to humble. Words themselves can not change reality, but they can change how we see our reality. Words create filters through which people view the world around them. One positive word can help to give someone a push forward to their goal or dream or, it can make them feel like it is a waste of time.

We can never forget that we are here today because mankind spend thousands upon thousands of years developing the magic of communication and telling stories. We can not forget we are all forces of nature with the power of the universe at the tips of our tongues. We need to begin to take responsibility for how we use our words. The use of words sadly if used in the dark way cause suicides, verbal abuse, manipulation and so on. We need to be on guard of who we allow to be around us and how their words effect us and we should be on guard for how we effect others with our words. We should be using our words to manifest and bring good things toward ourselves and others. WE should embrace words and their power. Reading, writing, telling stories, speaking positive things into the universe and being the word wielding magicians we were born to be.
